Is your Water Heater Leaking, Making Loud Noises or Dying? Do you Need a Replacement or Just a Minor Repair in Dallas Texas?

The water heater is usually placed in a garage or in a basement of each home. It is an appliance that is used to heat water as the name suggests and deliver it to the home. This is used each time you wash your hands, do laundry or take a shower. Most water heaters are a tank that is kept full of water that is usually heated by a gas light fire. Most people know that you can’t run too long of a shower before the water just won’t stay hot anymore. When a water heater goes out it can become a terrible problem for the homeowner. Usually the tank drains and will flood the basement or garage of the home and could cause water damage.

Southwest Appliance Repair has the signs that you can look for to know if your water heater is about to go out.

Noises from your Water Heater: A water heater is not made to make noises while it is working. That means that if you notice your water heater is making noises such as creaks, whining or even loud bangs; that could be a sign that your water heater is about to go out. Most of the time the noise is because the sediment from the water is starting to buildup in the tank. If the heating element is struggling to stay lit it could be making noises as well.

Water Heater Temperature: If you notice that your water is not as hot as you like or it is getting too hot you could have a problem. This issue could be as simple as adjusting the dial on the tank. This is what will regulate the temperature of the water that is in the tank. Most tanks heat the water between 120 – 140 degrees. If you make the adjustment and the water is not heated the way you want or it is not hot at all you could be in need of a new water heater.

Age of your Water Heater: After around ten years, a water heater has worked the amount of time that it was manufactured to do. That does not mean that the unit will for sure give out, but the odds of it happening sooner rather than later is more likely. Water heaters are also more likely to start having small leaking problems that over time will get larger and eventually the tank will stop working all together.
